Fundraiser in Thun

On Saturday, 17. of September in the beautiful town of Thun, Berner Oberland, you had the opportunity to learn about the work of Delta Cultura Cabo Verde and especially the Football School Tarrafal. A big event took place on the main square of Thun. Organized and conducted by United Oberland. Three organizations are behind this name: the service club Round Table Thun, the Swiss Super League club FC Thun and Delta Cultura.
During this event all sorts of activities took place and they all had one thing in common: their revenues were for the football school Tarrafal.

The FC Thun came with all it’s children and youth teams. They built a football slalom course where young and old were able to prove their talent. The winners were allowed to compete in a penalty shootout against the U21 goalkeeper of FC Thun. There were many prizes to win.

A small stage was built on the square, where several musical groups entertained the audience. The highlight was the appearance of Lasse Redn and his band, which has provided a lively atmosphere.

Furthermore, there were computer games and at its best cuisine of the Cape Verde Islands, raffles, CD’s for sale with “Hopp FC Thun Song” – a joint project of various musicians from the region –  and of course, an information booth of Delta Cultura and the football school.

Amazing was the intense and very heartfelt commitment of the young footballers of FC Thun. They collected donations, supervised the football slalom course, sold CD’s and actively helped in setting up and dismantling. They owe their openness and community involvement to their participation in the exemplary program FC Thun makes school. In this program, in which all the young players of FC Thun have to make part, the Swiss Football Club assumes its social responsibility and shows that football training is not exclusively related to technical and tactical skills.

Delta Cultura wants to thank all participants for this wonderful event.
