Creating a vegetable garden

Delta Cultura has received funding from the AFRICAN DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION in order to create a green space that allows the youngsters of the association to develop skills related to the management and preservation of one of these spaces. Nowadays, DCCV is helping about 250 youngsters, who participate in all the activities promoted by the center, and will involve 30 of these kids in environmental education and management of a garden. In order to facilitate the Access of the association to the water system, it’s mandatory that it installs a pump and tube system which can recycle and transfer the used water at the center, to an already existing tank – that in this moment works as a drip irrigation system. The association has a space that was previously used as a garden, however because of the high costs it wasn’t possible to maintain it. With the pump and the tube system, DCCV will have access to water at a low price, will be able to reuse the 400m2 of garden, by providing the adequate conditions to cultivation and production and the youngsters will have a direct way to comprehend and act actively in the preservation of the water as well as practicing a sustainable agriculture.
