Additionally to the one year wood-turning training for young mothers, the instructor Salsa organized a one month wood-turning workshop together with her best student Neusa. Thus the apprentices give their skills which they have learned so far to others and additional girls from the community get insight into the wood-turning handicraft.
In the meantime the one year training in it’s the 4th month. The apprentices already have a huge sense of achievements. Among other things they had a booth during the local village festival, Santo Amaro and sold their turned wooden tins, plates, balls and tops. They also came in contact with other craftsmen of the island Santiago. A co-operation with some these artists is in the making.
We are pleased that this vocational training financed by the city of Vienna already begins to bear fruits!
