Education Center Tarrafal

Delta Cultura Cabo Verde established the Education Center Tarrafal in the year 2005, and since then, many educational programs have sprung from the ground. It has been a lively development, which has not seen its end until Delta Culturas vision – end poverty through education – is reality. And this is not just a vision at the Center; it’s employees, from the project management to the watchman, are constantly working for Delta Culturas goal.

A short overview of the history of the Educational Center Tarrafal:

  • The Center opened its doors on the 8th of October 2005, after a 9 month construction period.
  • From October 2005 until March 2007 the main focus the Center had was on giving professional training for carpenters and tailors, on providing IT- and language courses, and on offering football training.
  • Since 2007, the children and adolescents of the football school have been the main focus of the Center, but the educational programs have been flourishing more and more of late. In today’s world, football is a great door opener for social change and education.
  • In 2013, the Educational Center was expanded by merging with the Tarrafal Football for Hope Center. With financing through FIFA, one more building with an IT room/library, a multi-use room, as well as a 40x20m artificial turf pitch was built in addition to the already existing 7 buildings.

The different programs of the Center, described on these pages intertwine and complement each other.
